The world is changing.

Everything changes. Lifestyles, transport and clothing. Attitudes and knowledge. Music and film. Politics and policy.

Heck, remember the days when cigarettes were thought to be healthy.

Change is part of life.

Normally, change is embraced. There’s a recognition that we are moving with the times and improving our lives. But one change that hasn’t been embraced is that we now have a choice regarding having children, and an increasing number of us are opting out.

Oh no, this change is not being celebrated by all.

Take Elon Musk, for instance. He sees himself as a pioneer of space, a thought leader of tech, and now… the remover of voting rights for those intentionally forgoing reproduction. Yes, he wants to punish and ostracise all those embracing the choice of not having children.

It used to be the case that everyone who could have kids, would have kids. It was just something you did—or rather, something you couldn’t easily avoid.

Don’t get me wrong, there have always been women opting out of motherhood. But these women often had to avoid marriage…
